Comic book publications and their characters take on an almost cult following and provide millions with an escape into another world. Some people don’t understand why comic books allure so many, even to adults. Recent Happenings In The Shadowman Universe
On April 28th, 2021, Shadowman received an intensely awaited volume addition to his horror hero saga. Shadowman returned in April with a new series that continues to reimagine the supernatural side of Valiant. Writer Cullen Bunn and artist Jon Davis-Hunt collaborate on their mutual hunger for everything horror to set you on another dark journey to the demonic side. Shadowman, a series of autonomous horror-based vignettes, builds new mythos around the Deadside with each issue beginning with a dramatic character revamp of villain Baron Samedi. Ex foe Samedi now plays the role of foil, drawing more attention to Shadowman’s protagonistic soul and helping him in his cause to keep humanity protected from the demons who rip into our reality by gaining access to the doors of our perception left unguarded.

The hero character Jack Boniface debuted in Shadowman #1 in May 1992, created by writers Jim Shooter and Steve Englehart and artist David Lapham. Jack, as Shadowman, possesses to the highest degrees of great strength, endurance, agility, and reflexes, night vision, regenerative healing, gliding capabilities, and other paranormal powers. By the character’s second year, he started outselling long-standing industry favorites from Marvel and DC Comics. Shadowman has video games and a series of over 80 comics published to date. Selling over 5 million copies to date and translated into several languages, including, but not limited to, German, Italian, Spanish, Norwegian, Filipino, and Chinese.

DMG Entertainment took over Valiant and are looking to cement its place as the third largest connected universe. Valiant, founded in 1989 by former Marvel Comics editor-in-chief Jim Shooter and businessman and attorney Steven Massarsky, eventually sold to Acclaim Entertainment. After a tumultuous bankruptcy by Acclaim, the company restarted as Valiant once more by entrepreneurs Dinesh Shamdasani and Jason Kothari in 2005. The publisher is a leader in the realm of character-based Entertainment. Valient owns and controls one of the most extensive libraries of superheroes along with Marvel and DC. The comic book behemoth’s character roster includes Shadowman, Bloodshot, X-O Manowar, Harbinger, Archer & Armstrong, and too many others to list. The unfortunate timing of the release of the first Bloodshot – March 2020 – led to a poor box office showing, but DMG Entertainment appear to have deep pockets so it is nice to know that there are some comic book movies ahead that aren’t all Marvel and DC.
